Thirty college students acro the country attended the Tenth 21st Century Cup National English Speaking Contest in Beijing on April 10.Eventually, Xia Peng, from Nanjing University was named the champion. The second and third places went to Zhang Jing, a sophomore from China Foreign Affairs University, and Zhang A Xu, from Hong Kong Polytechnic University, respectively.More than 1000 college students in Beijing are lucky birds to listen to the speeches on the spot in Friendship Hotel.

Just make to it the finals, they had to get past 60 others speaking on “The impact of globalization on traditional Chinese values”.That was at the semi-final on April 8-9.What will Chinese college students think about the impact? Each contestant had his own take on the subject.Xia summed up globalization by saying: “It’s just controversial and hard to say whether it is good or bad.” Xia took the old wall of his city, Nanjing, as a metaphor. He spoke about the conflict over whether to protect the old walls or tear them down to represent the conflict of ideas. He suggested that people protect the wall as a valuable relic while tearing down the “intangible walls” of their minds that prevent communication. While some other students are more focusing on the impact of globalization on family relations, attitudes towards love, and job-hunting.

Over the past 10 years, the national English speaking competition has given contestants a chance to speak on a variety of topics closely related to their lives.Chinese students become more open-minded and receive various ideas and thinking over the decade.Diversity becomes more obvious on campus, students have more opportunities to expre and show themselves. It’s not an easy task for the

1 contestants to win through the fierce competition.Owning to their paion, hard work

and persistence, they finally succeeded in the contest.

Liu Xin, the first champion of the national contest, is now an anchorperson of CCTV-9.Recalling the paion of study on campus, she said: “When you want to expre your idea by a foreign language without finding a right way, you’re really upset. Then you have to encourage yourself, and after a long term of bitterne, suddenly you find you get the right way with joy.” With the champion title in 21st Century Cup, Liu attended the International Public Speaking competition in London in May 1996 afterward and got the first prize historically.

The winner in 2003 surprised the audience, since she came from accounting major instead of English major.Gu Qiubei, then 22 years old, was a senior in Shanghai Foreign Studies University. While being asked whether she had some good methods to learn English, she said: “Learn English with paion and enthusiasm.” Attracted by the greatne of English language, Gu even changed her major from accounting to English in her postgraduate study. The most important iue in English learning proce she pointed out is personal interests.Only people interested in English benefit a lot from the learning methods and those with paion will finally achieve their dreams.

When chief of global media giant Viacom Sumner Redstone gave a speech in Tsinghua University on his autobiography A Paion to Win, he was asked what made him to restart his career at the age of 60, the 81-year-old media tycoon said: “Firstly, there’s a self-driving force in my deep heart, which keeps my paion to succeed and surpa others; secondly, I don’t think I’m too old to leave work, actually I love my

2 work very much.”

Some of the contestants have achieved their dreams as Redstone; still others are on the way to their dream. With a paion to win, you will overcome obstacles and succeed at the end.

Building Bridges for the Future

I’m studying in a city that’s famous for its walls.People who visit my city are amazed at the imposing sight of its walls, especially when silhouetted against the setting sun with gold, shining streaks. The old, cracked bricks are covered with lichens and the walls are weather-beaten guards standing still for centuries.

Our ancestors liked to build walls. They built walls in Beijing, Xi’an, Nanjing and many other cities, and they built the Great Wall, which snakes acro half our country. They built walls to protect against enemies and evil spirits. This tradition has survived to this day: we still have many parks and schools walled off from the public.

For a long time, walls were one of the most natural things in the world to me.

My perceptions, however, changed after I made a hiking trip to the eastern suburbs of my city.My clamates and I were walking with some foreign students. As we walked out of the city, we found ourselves flanked by tall trees, which formed a wide canopy above our heads.Suddenly one foreign student asked me, “Where is the entrance to the eastern suburbs?”

“We’re already in the eastern suburbs,” I replied. He seemed taken aback, “I thought you Chinese had walls for everything.” His remark set off a heated debate. At one point, he likened our walled cities to “jails”, while I insisted that the eastern 3 suburbs were one of the many places in China that had no walls.

That debate had no winners, but I did learn a lot from this student. For instance, he told me that some major universities like Oxford and Cambridge were not surrounded by walls.I have to admit that we do have many walls in China, and as we develop our country, we must look carefully at them and decide whether they are physical or intangible. We will keep some walls but tear down those that impede our development.

Let me give another example.

A year ago, when I was working on a term paper, I needed a book on busine law and found a copy in the law school library. However, the librarian coldly rejected my request to borrow it, saying, “You can’t borrow this book, you’re not a student here.” In the end, I had to spend 200 yuan to buy a copy.Meanwhile, the copy in the law school gathered dust on the shelf.

At the beginning of this semester, I heard that my university had started to think of unifying its libraries and linking them to libraries at other universities, so my experience wouldn’t be repeated.Barriers would be replaced by bridges. An inter-library loan system would give us acce to books from any library. With globalization and China integrated into the world, I believe many of these intangible walls will be knocked down.

I know that globalization is a controversial iue, and it is hard to say whether it is good or bad.But one thing is for sure: it draws our attention to China’s tangible and intangible walls and forces us to examine their role in the modern world.

And how about the ancient walls of mine and other cities? Should we tear them down? Definitely not.My city, like Beijing and other cities, is actually making a great effort to preserve the walls. These walls attract historians, archaeologists, and many schoolchildren who are trying to study our history and cultural heritage.Walls have

4 become bridges to our past and to the rest of the world. If the ancient builders of these walls were still alive today, they would be proud to see such great changes in the role of their walls. They are now bridges that link East and West, South and North, and all countries of the world. Our cultural heritage will survive globalization.

Shall people transplant condemned’s organ?

Have you ever hear “organ transplant”? Do you know where are the organs that are used to organ transplant come from? Ok ,let me tell you.The donated organs mainly come from 3 ways:

① Donated by the common people who have just died;

② From their relatives;

③ the especial way: donated by condemneds.

For the third way of organs donated, some people refuse to accept it.They prefer to die than to transplant condemneds’ organs.Because they think the condemneds are very evil and their organs as well.So they feel sick to their organs. And they also worry about that whether the person will become evil like the condemned after he transplanting the condemned’s organ. And in fact, there are really some effects on the person who transplanted the condemned’s organ in his character.

But I think people can accept condemneds’ organs. There are 4 main reasons that I think people can accept their organs:

1, Since the condemneds are willing to donate their organs to other people, we can know that they are not as evil as people think, at least they are not evil when they agree to donate their organs to the strangers.Maybe we can say, they just wan to make up for their foults, and this is their chance to make up.Can’t we give them a chance to make up?

2, Some people worry about that whether they will become evil like the condemneds after transplanting.Although there will be a time that the person who transplanted the organ will be a bit similiar to the condemned in his character, the time will be very short and the people who has this kind of effect are just a very little part.So don’t be too worry about this.

3, Do you know , in China, the source of organ transplant is in short supply. The proportion between supply and demand is 1 to150.Yes,we call it: Demand exceeds supply. And in China, the supply of organ is mainly from condemneds’.

4, We all know that life is only once for each person.Life is too precious that we must appreciate it.Let’s suppose that if you are going to die and now you have the chance to live, will you grasp it? I think most of us will grasp it, because life is wonderful and meaninful.Being alive must be better than die, right?

In conclusion, I think it is Ok to transplante condemned’s organ.Give the condemneds a chance to make up for their sin, and also give people a chance to live , why not?

Under great academic preure, a high school student at a famous school in Zhengzhou, Henan Province, killed his mother at home on February 7, Legal Daily reported.

A new term had just started. The student and his mother had an argument about his learning state. Then the boy said: \"Mom, I have prepared something for you.Lower your head and close your eyes.\"

His mother did so, and he took the prepared dumbbell to pound his mother\'s head. After smashing two times, he cut the mother\'s throat with a paper knife. Then he tied his mother\'s neck using a shoelace and knotted it.He went to school after his mother was confirmed dead, with a quilt covering her body.

Being asked by the investigators whether he regretted killing his mother, he casually replied: \"I do not regret it.Because I longer need to learn under so much preure.\" (China.org.cn February 24, 2012)

As you know,it is a common phenomenon in modern society. An increasing number of students suicide or kill people around them(their families, friends, clamates, even strangers)owing to the so-called preure from study or society.Just in our school ,there are many cases like that.

But how could the threatening tragedy happened? As far as I am concerned,,there are reasons from three aspects to do with it.

Above all,the .They are so any stre no matter how light it is.They communicate le with others and don\'t know how to relieve their preure.

And the last aspect,Families put ton children. They are not paying attention to give children but to expect them to make bigger progre next time, which may discourage children.

Gue what?I had the same kind of thought as the child did in my childhood, but,of course,I didn\'t put it into practice. You know, just thinking. So,I believe it is up to children themselves. With strong mental power and self-control ability,I think all of these won\'t have happened.

Renunciation Speech

Lyndon Baines Johnson: Renunciation Speech<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = \"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office\" />

Good evening, my fellow Americans:

Tonight I want to speak to you of peace in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = \"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags\" />Vietnam and Southeast Asia.No other question so preoccupies our people. No other dream so absorbs the 250 million human beings who live in that part of the world. No other goal motivates American policy in Southeast Asia.

For years, representatives of our Governments and others have traveled the world seeking to find a basis for peace talks.Since last September they have carried the offer that I made public at San Antonio. And that offer was this:

That the United States would stop its bombardment of North Vietnam when that would lead promptly to productive discuions -- and that we would aume that North Vietnam would not take military advantage of our restraint.

Hanoi denounced this offer, both privately and publicly.Even while the search for peace was going on, North Vietnam rushed their preparations for a savage aault on the people, the government, and the allies of South Vietnam.Their attack -- during the Tet holidays -- failed to achieve its principal objectives. It did not collapse the elected Government of South Vietnam or shatter its army -- as the Communists had hoped. It did not produce a \"general uprising\" among the people of the cities, as they had predicted. The Communists were unable to maintain control of any of the more than 30 cities that they attacked. And they took very heavy casualties. But they did compel the South Vietnamese and their allies to move certain forces from the countryside into the cities. They caused widespread disruption and suffering.Their attacks, and the battles that followed, made refugees of half a million human beings.

The Communists may renew their attack any day. They are, it appears, trying to make 1968 the year of decision in South Vietnam -- the year that brings, if not final victory or defeat, at least a turning point in the struggle.

This much is clear: If they do mount another round of heavy attacks, they will not succeed in destroying the fighting power of South Vietnam and its allies. But tragically, this is also clear: Many men -- on both sides of the struggle -- will be lost.A nation that has already suffered 20 years of warfare will suffer once again.Armies on both sides will take new casualties. And the war will go on.There is no need for this to be so.There is no need to delay the talks that could bring an end to this long and this bloody war.

Tonight, I renew the offer I made last August: to stop the bombardment of North Vietnam. We ask that talks begin promptly, that they be serious talks on the substance of peace. We aume that during those talks Hanoi will not take advantage of our restraint. We are prepared to move immediately toward peace through negotiations. So tonight, in the hope that this action will lead to early talks, I am taking the first step to de-escalate the conflict. We are reducing -- substantially reducing -- the present level of hostilities, and we are doing so unilaterally and at once.

Tonight, I have ordered our aircraft and our naval veels to make no attacks on North Vietnam, except in the area north of the demilitarized zone where the continuing enemy buildup directly threatens allied forward positions and where the movements of their troops and supplies are clearly related to that threat. The area in which we are stopping our attacks includes almost 90 percent of North Vietnam\'s population, and most of its territory. Thus, there will be no attacks around the principal populated areas, or in the food-producing areas of North Vietnam.

Even this very limited bombing of the North could come to an early end -- if our restraint is matched by restraint in Hanoi. But I cannot in good conscience stop all bombing so long as to do so would immediately and directly endanger the lives of our men and our allies.Whether a complete bombing halt becomes poible in the future will be determined by events. Our purpose in this action is to bring about a reduction in the level of violence that now exists. It is to save the lives of brave men --and to save the lives of innocent women and children. It is to permit the contending forces to move closer to a political settlement. And tonight I call upon the United Kingdom and I call upon the Soviet Union -- as co-chairmen of the Geneva conferences, and as permanent members of the United Nations Security Council -- to do all they can to move from the unilateral act of de-escalation that I have just announced toward genuine peace in Southeast Asia.

Now, as in the past, the United States is ready to send its representatives to any forum, at any time, to discu the means of bringing this ugly war to an end.I am designating one of our most distinguished Americans, Ambaador Averell Harriman, as my personal representative for such talks. In addition, I have asked Ambaador Llewellyn Thompson, who returned from Moscow for consultation, to be available to join Ambaador Harriman at Geneva or any other suitable place --just as soon as Hanoi agrees to a conference.

I call upon president Ho Chi Minh to respond positively, and favorably, to this new step toward peace. But if peace does not come now through negotiations, it will come when Hanoi understands that our common resolve is unshakable, and our common strength is invincible.

Tonight, we and the other allied nations are contributing 600,000 fighting men to aist 700,000 South Vietnamese troops in defending their little country. Our presence there has always rested on this basic belief: The main burden of preserving their freedom must be carried out by them -- by the South Vietnamese themselves.

We and our allies can only help to provide a shield behind which the people of South Vietnam can survive and can grow and develop. On their efforts -- on their determinations and resourcefulne --the outcome will ultimately depend. That small, beleaguered nation has suffered terrible punishment for more than 20 years.I pay tribute once again tonight to the great courage and the endurance of its people.South Vietnam supports armed forces tonight of almost 700,000 men, and I call your attention to the fact that that is the equivalent of more than 10 million in our own population. Its people maintain their firm determination to be free of domination by the North.

There has been substantial progre, I think, in building a durable government during these last three years. The South Vietnam of 1965 could not have survived the enemy\'s Tet offensive of 1968.The elected government of South Vietnam survived that attack -- and is rapidly repairing the devastation that it wrought. The South Vietnamese know that further efforts are going to be required to expand their own armed forces; to move back into the countryside as quickly as poible; to increase their taxes; to select the very best men that they have for civil and military responsibilities; to achieve a new unity within their constitutional government, and to include in the national effort all those groups who wish to preserve South Vietnam\'s control over its own destiny.

Last week president Thieu ordered the mobilization of 135,000 additional South Vietnamese. He plans to reach as soon as poible a total military strength of more than 800,000 men.To achieve this, the Government of South Vietnam started the drafting of 19-year-olds on March 1st.On May 1st, the Government will begin the drafting of 18-year-olds.Last month, 10,000 men volunteered for military service. That was two and a half times the number of volunteers during the same month last year.Since the middle of January, more than 48,000 South Vietnamese have joined the armed forces, and nearly half of them volunteered to do so.

All men in the South Vietnamese armed forces have had their tours of duty extended for the duration of the war, and reserves are now being called up for immediate active duty.president Thieu told his people last week, and I quote:

\"We must make greater efforts, we must accept more sacrifices, because as I have said many times, this is our country. The existence of our nation is at stake, and this is mainly a Vietnamese responsibility.\"

He warned his people that a major national effort is required to root out corruption and incompetence at all levels of government. We applaud this evidence of determination on the part of South Vietnam. Our first priority will be to support their effort. We shall accelerate the re-equipment of South Vietnam\'s armed forces in order to meet the enemy\'s increased firepower. And this will enable them progreively to undertake a larger share of combat operations against the Communist invaders.

On many occasions I have told the American people that we would send to Vietnam those forces that are required to accomplish our miion there. So with that as our guide we have previously authorized a force level of approximately 525,000.Some weeks ago to help meet the enemy\'s new offensive we sent to Vietnam about 11,000 additional Marine and airborne troops. They were deployed by air in 48 hours on an emergency basis. But the artillery and the tank and the aircraft and medical and other units that were needed to work with and support these infantry troops in combat could not then accompany them by air on that short notice.

In order that these forces may reach maximum combat effectivene, the Joint Chiefs of Staff have recommended to me that we should prepare to send during the next five months the support troops totaling approximately 13,500 men.A portion of these men will be made available from our active forces. The balance will come from reserve component units, which will be called up for service.

The actions that we have taken since the beginning of the year to re-equip the South Vietnamese forces; to meet our responsibilities in Korea, as well as our responsibilities in Vietnam; to meet price increases and the cost of activating and deploying these reserve forces; to replace helicopters and provide the other military supplies we need, all of these actions are going to require additional expenditures. The tentative estimate of those additional expenditures is 2 1/2 billion dollars in this fiscal year and 2 billion, 600 million in the next fiscal year. These projected increases in expenditures for our national security will bring into sharper focus the nation\'s need for immediate action, action to protect the prosperity of the American people and to protect the strength and the stability of our American dollar.

On many occasions I have pointed out that without a tax bill or decreased expenditures, next year\'s deficit would again be around $20 billion.I have emphasized the need to set strict priorities in our spending.I have streed that failure to act -- and to act promptly and decisively -- would raise very strong doubts throughout the world about America\'s willingne to keep its financial house in order.

Yet Congre has not acted. And tonight we face the sharpest financial threat in the postwar era -- a threat to the dollar\'s role as the keystone of international trade and finance in the world.

Last week, at the monetary conference in Stockholm, the major industrial countries decided to take a big step toward creating a new international monetary aet that will strengthen the international monetary system. And I\'m very proud of the very able work done by Secretary Fowler and Chairman Martin of the Federal Reserve Board. But to make this system work, the United States just must bring its balance of payments to -- or very close to -- equilibrium. We must have a responsible fiscal policy in this country. The paage of a tax bill now, together with expenditure control that the Congre may desire and dictate, is absolutely neceary to protect this nation’s security, and to continue our prosperity, and to meet the needs of our people.

Now, what is at stake is seven years of unparalleled prosperity. In those seven years, the real income of the average American, after taxes, rose by almost 30 percent -- a gain as large as that of the entire preceding 19 years. So the steps that we must take to convince the world are exactly the steps that we must take to sustain our own economic strength here at home.In the past eight months, prices and interest rates have risen because of our inaction. We must therefore now do everything we can to move from debate to action, from talking to voting and there is, I believe -- I hope there is -- in both Houses of the Congre a growing sense of urgency that this situation just must be acted upon and must be corrected.

My budget in January, we thought, was a tight one.It fully reflected our evaluation of most of the demanding needs of this nation. But in these budgetary matters, the president does not decide alone. The Congre has the power, and the duty, to determine appropriations and taxes. And the Congre is now considering our proposals, and they are considering reductions in the budget that we submitted.

As part of a program of fiscal restraint that includes the tax surcharge, I shall approve appropriate reductions in the January budget when and if Congre so decides that that should be done. One thing is unmistakably clear, however. Our deficit just must be reduced.Failure to act could bring on conditions that would strike hardest at those people that all of us are trying so hard to help

So these times call for prudence in this land of plenty. And I believe that we have the character to provide it, and tonight I plead with the Congre and with the people to act promptly to serve the national interest and thereby serve all of our people.

Now let me give you my estimate of the chances for peace -- the peace that will one day stop the bloodshed in South Vietnam; that will -- all the Vietnamese people [will] be permitted to rebuild and develop their land; that will permit us to turn more fully to our own tasks here at home.I cannot promise that the initiative that I have announced tonight will be completely succeful in achieving peace any more than the 30 others that we have undertaken and agreed to in recent years. But it is our fervent hope that North Vietnam, after years of fighting that has left the iue unresolved, will now cease its efforts to achieve a military victory and will join with us in moving toward the peace table.

And there may come a time when South Vietnamese -- on both sides -- are able to work out a way to settle their own differences by free political choice rather than by war.As Hanoi considers its course, it should be in no doubt of our intentions. It must not miscalculate the preures within our democracy in this election year.We have no intention of widening this war.But the United States will never accept a fake solution to this long and arduous struggle and call it peace.

No one can foretell the precise terms of an eventual settlement. Our objective in South Vietnam has never been the annihilation of the enemy. It has been to bring about a recognition in Hanoi that its objective -- taking over the South by force -- could not be achieved. We think that peace can be based on the Geneva Accords of 1954, under political conditions that permit the South Vietnamese -- all the South Vietnamese -- to chart their course free of any outside domination or interference, from us or from anyone else.

So tonight, I reaffirm the pledge that we made at Manila: that we are prepared to withdraw our forces from South Vietnam as the other side withdraws its forces to the North, stops the infiltration, and the level of violence thus subsides. Our goal of peace and self-determination in Vietnam is directly related to the future of all of Southeast Asia, where much has happened to inspire confidence during the past 10 years. And we have done all that we knew how to do to contribute and to help build that confidence.

A number of its nations have shown what can be accomplished under conditions of security.Since 1966, Indonesia, the fifth largest nation in all the world, with a population of more than 100 million people, has had a government that’s dedicated to peace with its neighbors and improved conditions for its own people.

political and economic cooperation between nations has grown rapidly. And I think every American can take a great deal of pride in the role that we have played in bringing this about in Southeast Asia.We can rightly judge -- as responsible Southeast Asians themselves do -- that the progre of the past three years would have been far le likely, if not completely impoible, if America\'s sons and others had not made their stand in Vietnam.

At Johns Hopkins University about three years ago, I announced that the United States would take part in the great work of developing Southeast Asia, including the Mekong valley, for all the people of that region. Our determination to help build a better land -- a better land for men on both sides of the present conflict -- has not diminished in the least.Indeed, the ravages of war, I think, have made it more urgent than ever.

So I repeat on behalf of the United States again tonight what I said at Johns Hopkins -- that North Vietnam could take its place in this common effort just as soon as peace comes.Over time, a wider framework of peace and security in Southeast Asia may become poible. The new cooperations of the nations of the area could be a foundation stone.Certainly friendship with the nations of such a Southeast Asia is what the United States seeks -- and that is all that the United States seeks.

One day, my fellow citizen, there will be peace in Southeast Asia.It will come because the people of Southeast Asia want it -- those whose armies are at war tonight; those who, though threatened, have thus far been spared.peace will come because Asians were willing to work for it and to sacrifice for it -- and to die by the thousands for it.But let it never be forgotten: peace will come also because America sent her sons to help secure it.

It has not been easy -- far from it.During the past four and a half years, it has been my fate and my responsibility to be Commander in Chief.I have lived daily and nightly with the cost of this war.I know the pain that it has inflicted.I know perhaps better than anyone the misgivings that it has aroused. And throughout this entire long period I have been sustained by a single principle: that what we are doing now in Vietnam is vital not only to the security of Southeast Asia, but it is vital to the security of every American.

Surely, we have treaties which we must respect.Surely, we have commitments that we are going to keep.Resolutions of the Congre testify to the need to resist aggreion in the world and in Southeast Asia.

But the heart of our involvement in South Vietnam under three different presidents, three separate Administrations, has always been America\'s own security. And the larger purpose of our involvement has always been to help the nations of Southeast Asia become independent, and stand alone, self-sustaining as members of a great world community, at peace with themselves, at peace with all others. And with such a nation our country -- and the world -- will be far more secure than it is tonight.

I believe that a peaceful Asia is far nearer to reality because of what America has done in Vietnam.I believe that the men who endure the dangers of battle there, fighting there for us tonight, are helping the entire world avoid far greater conflicts, far wider wars, far more destruction, than this one.The peace that will bring them home someday will come.Tonight, I have offered the first in what I hope will be a series of mutual moves toward peace.

I pray that it will not be rejected by the leaders of North Vietnam.I pray that they will accept it as a means by which the sacrifices of their own people may be ended. And I ask your help and your support, my fellow citizens, for this effort to reach acro the battlefield toward an early peace.

Finally, my fellow Americans, let me say this:

Of those to whom much is given, much is asked.I cannot say -- and no man could say -- that no more will be asked of us.Yet I believe that now, no le than when the decade began, this generation of Americans is willing to pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, to aure the survival, and the succe, of liberty.

Since those words were spoken by John F.Kennedy, the people of America have kept that compact with mankind\'s noblest cause. And we shall continue to keep it.

Yet, I believe that we must always be mindful of this one thing -- whatever the trials and the tests ahead, the ultimate strength of our country and our cause will lie, not in powerful weapons or infinite resources or boundle wealth, but will lie in the unity of our people.

This I believe very deeply.Throughout my entire public career I have followed the personal philosophy that I am a free man, an American, a public servant, and a member of my party -- in that order -- always and only.

For 37 years in the service of our nation, first as a Congreman, as a Senator, and as Vice president, and now as your president, I have put the unity of the people first.I have put it ahead of any divisive partisanship. And in these times as in times before, it is true that a house divided against itself by the spirit of faction, of party, of region, of religion, of race, is a house that cannot stand.

There is division in the American house now. There is divisivene among us all tonight. And holding the trust that is mine, as president of all the people, I cannot disregard the peril to the progre of the American people and the hope and the prospects of peace for all peoples. So, I would ask all Americans, whatever their personal interests or concern, to guard against divisivene and all of its ugly consequences.

Fifty-two months and ten days ago, in a moment of tragedy and trauma, the duties of this office fell upon me.I asked then for your help and God\'s, that we might continue America on its course, binding up our wounds, healing our history, moving forward in new unity to clear the American agenda and to keep the American commitment for all of our people.

United we have kept that commitment. And united we have enlarged that commitment. And through all time to come I think America will be a stronger nation, a more just society, a land of greater opportunity and fulfillment because of what we have all done together in these years of unparalleled achievement.

Our reward will come in the life of freedom and peace and hope that our children will enjoy through ages ahead. What we won when all of our people united just must not now be lost in suspicion and distrust and selfishne and politics among any of our people. And believing this, as I do, I have concluded that I should not permit the presidency to become involved in the partisan divisions that are developing in this political year.

With American sons in the fields far away, with America\'s future under challenge right here at home, with our hopes and the world\'s hopes for peace in the balance every day, I do not believe that I should devote an hour or a day of my time to any personal partisan causes or to any duties other than the awesome duties of this office -- the presidency of your country.

Accordingly, I shall not seek, and I will not accept, the nomination of my party for another term as your president. But let men everywhere know, however, that a strong and a confident and a vigilant America stands ready tonight to seek an honorable peace; and stands ready tonight to defend an honored cause, whatever the price, whatever the burden, whatever the sacrifice that duty may require.

Thank you for listening.Good night and God ble all of you.

English speech

Hello, everyone, I feel honored to be here to give you a speech.Thank you for your coming. As we all know, every nation has its special culture. There must be some differences among them.Today I will addre the different cultures between China and American about the moral value to you.

China is a traditional country with more than 5000 years’ history.Chinese have been deeply influenced by Confucian culture for a long time.Chinese people promote community, while Americans lay stre on individual. The differences about the moral value make their ethical system and moral code different: The American people pay more attention to the contract; the Chinese attach importance to ethics, however.American emphasize on reason, Chinese human relationship.American people are accustomed to competence, Chinese prefer harmony.Influenced by Confucius, Chinese people believe that people are naturally kindhearted.

Just like what I have said, China is a traditional country. In the movie, we can see how a father gets along with his son in a Chinese family.A son should always remember that he ought to respect his parents. They have been taught to respect the elderly and care for the young since they were still children.Respect is very important in many occasions. In a family sometimes a father may make a mistake, but out of respect, a son may not point it out directly. But in the United States, equality may be

more important. In a family, a child has the same right as a father since they are equal by the law.

With the accelerating proce of the globalization, intercultural communication has become increasingly frequent.Differences between different cultures are due to their national cultural and historical background. It is a permanent cultural phenomenon. We should learn to understand the different regions, different ethnic, cultural background and social customs. In an age when information technology develops rapidly, people from different cultures will have more and more communication.Understanding the cultural differences is of great importance for us to adapt it, and then make our cro-cultural communication more effective and more smoothly. So I wish that you could learn more about the different cultures. That’s all, thank you for your listening.

Speech Report

This weekend, I watched a TED Talk by Amy Cuddy, a specialist researching on body language. The topic is “Body language can change self-evaluation”, the lecturer used a very vivid and emotional way to deliver her speech.

The main idea is about how our actions affect our emotions. She started the speech by giving people a new tip. Then she listed several body languages that we always use and what they stand for, for example, opening arms stand for powerful attitude while closing up stand for powerle.Next, she explained how the body language affect our feelings, through smiling, shaking hands and all the social ways.In addition, she told us some special facts that may impact the affection of body language, such as gender and degree people participate in.

What’s more, she spread the idea “fake it till make it” by using her own story. She was a very gifted girl with lots of excellent experience in her childhood.Unfortunately, she suffered a bad accident when she was 14, doctor saved her but told that her IQ dropped 2 standard. She loosed all the confidence and close up for a long time. She struggled many times in school, always thinking about “I wasn’t supposed to be here”.She then learned to cheat herself, say that “I should be here, I can be good here”.Therefore she paed series of difficulties and finally got the master degree in Harvard. Her eyes was well up with tears when she mentioned this, I can see the how tough she had been through. At last, she suggested that “tiny tweaks make big changes”, and advocated all of us to notice our body language and make proper changes to it, thus we can make a better life.

So after I watched her addre, I began to think over about myself, what body language I always use and how I use it.I eventually noticed I use some wrong ways on them, such as the way talking to others. So I went to think it again, and now I get an accurate plan to improve myself. Thanks to the speech.

第14篇:graduation speech

Dear faculty, family, friends and fellow graduates, I am honored to speak to you on this very important day.

As I walked along the avenue on my way from dormitory in Benbu campus to Beiyi campus to join the graduation ceremony this morning, the avenue which we paed for thousands of times during last four years, I noticed that the warmth in the breeze has become stranger and the light yellow color of the leaves has turned into a brighter green. It’s quite clear that there’s few fair spring time left here.Summer is just around the corner.

Have you ever thought of this question, why did we graduate in June? Not in a golden autumn or a white winter, but in the time of seasonal connection between spring and summer?

Well, you may say that it’s because we begin a academic year in September and we’d like to enjoy our last summer holiday.Call me far-fetched, but I think this time of the year is a metaphor.

What have we been through during the last nearly 20 years of education have made us grown from a seed to a sapling. We enjoyed sunshine and water nature provided for us; we suffered from growing pains and then felt the thrill when seeing our first bud; we got hurt by some people’s carelene or deliberate malice while protection and comfort from others; we made sharp improvement every other day and had the feeling that we’ve seen the world and done it all.

Wow, we’re so young and beautiful and we’re so ignorant. We don’t know how harsh summer could be.Spring drizzle once annoyed you and made you sleeple all night long will be eclipsed in front of the summer storm which may even break you in half.Bright sunshine once wrapped you in warmth may turn into burning devil and make you life unbearable as hell.Sometimes there’s too much rain that you can feel your roots rotting, while sometimes you are just 1-centimeter close to die of thirst.

How could we not shrink back in front of such peimistic prospect?

First of all, we should make it clear to ourselves that there is no shrinking back.Time is a straight line we must follow. We can either end it at some point or struggle forward.A tree can never shrink back to earth again no matter how afraid it is of the growling lightening. It can only grow against all odds and one day finally become hard enough to bear all the torment.

And then, try to imagine the autumn after the summer.Imagine the glowing fruits hanging all over you.Imagine you sitting there, like an old soldier, every scar on your aged body recalls you a particular memory of the glorious summer you’ve been through. The more you’ve taken in and digested, the richer your fruits will taste.

So, on this graduation day, now the Spring is over, are you ready for the Summer?

Good evening, everyone ,my name is chenxin ,and my tutor is Profeor Wangjie.It\'s my honor to speak here today My topic is OPC Introduction and simple inplementation

What is OPC?

OPC is an abbreviationfor “OLE for Proce Control”

OPC is open connectivity via open standards. It is all about Open Productivity & Connectivity in industrial automation.

Let\'s look at this picture,It tells us the OPC claic architechtures.

OPC Data acce server get data from device(divais)such as PLC and smart intelligent instruments. Then it tranfer the data to OPC data acce client such as HMI.

OPC can transfer data between device and device, software and software

and device and software

How to use OPC?

Let\'s see an example of OPC.It\'s between software and software

The left software we see is a configuration software which is known as Force Control,It owns friendly interface and monitor ability. The right software is familiar to us,Matalb It has strong computing ability.

Then let\'s see how to implement an OPC communication.

At first,let\'s configure Force Control.first, create a project.Second,Create an OPC server.the left is the OPC Server picture.name as PCAuto.OPCServer.Then we create variable a one and a two.hte next, run the project.then, configure variable list

Let\'s have a look at the project running result. The value of variable is changing as time flies or through operation.

Then,we have to configure Matlab to activate it.

Before conduct a connection,we should register OPC in Matlab.

then we create a connection

next,add data group

then add data item

then we can connect OPC Server

read the data, compute then write to Force Control or display in Matlab

That\'s the running result of Matlab

Picture a shows the data read from force control,It\'s a triangular wave.picture b shows the program of wrting to Force Control.

From the simple connection,we can get the conclusion below:

first. It’s very convenient to implement the connection between Matlab and Force Control.second.Force Control and Matlab can complement each other\'s advantages.

Third.OPC is useful in industrial automation.

English Speech

Competition is a popular phenomenon in modern time.Between countries, corporations, sports teams, and persons, the competition exists everywhere. Here, I just mention competition in life.

Life is pain. There are series of competitions in our life.Ignoring the ancestors, just nowadays, young children have to study plenty of things in their leisure time, from languages to mathematics, from sports to cultures.Playing only belongs to children, but they cannot do anything in their own time but studying.Examination is kind of competition we are familiar with. From entering the school, we begin to fight with all kinds of examinations. We call the small one quiz, then quest and test, and the larger one, test and exam. When examination becomes a standard to measure whether we are suitable candidates for students of the best high school, college students, and a job, and so on, it is a kind of competition we have to face to, although we have hated it for a long time and we will hate it forever.

After leaving the school, the real and miscellaneous competitions come.As a member of an organization, you should be hard-working to make your part strong and powerful in order to be surviving in the competitive society. For example, as a researcher, you need to try your best to find or work out or think out something sooner than others so that you can get more money and prize or status. After fighting for years to old, can we have a rest from competition? Dreaming! We have to fight with diseases, with all the pains

Do you want to live as human beings after hearing above? My answer is “Why not?”Life is pain, but we are men, we have courage, bravery, wisdom, and competitions make us stronger and more powerful, we also make good friend though competition.Though we are going to be weak and sick when we are old, we will be happy because of memories of what we have done when we are young.

第20篇:my speech

Moreover, hard work is a most important key to succe. If you want to realize your dream, act proactively and work hard, never allowing fear to stop you from achieving your dreams. You should make efficient of your time, try to work harder and devote yourself to your paions.Tomas Edison said that,” Genius are made from 99% hard work and 1% luck.” No one can realize their dreams without their own hard work.

Last but not the least, I should be more confident courageous.I remembered that once my teacher told me that we should believe all the planets are traveling around us and we are the best.It may be a funny joke, but you will know what it means after thinking more, and you will be more confident. So, tell yourself in your mind several times a day that,” All planets are moving around me! I am the best! “

Try to learn from others, and then work hard, be confident to face your dreams.Dreams will become easier for you to realize! “If I could reach higher, just for one moment to touch the sky…”---this is from my favorite song Reach.Hello, my dear friends, it is my great honor to be here and give a speech.Today I want to talk about the importance of

finding *me time*.• Everyone has his/her dream ,since we are in youth .but as we growing up ,we forget our former dreams slowly • Nothing is impoible for a strong willing heart ! If you want to do something ,you will find a way,if you don’t ,you will find an excuse ! Forget about the days when it\'s been cloudy, But don\'t forget your hours in the sun.As far as I am concerned,

13 Hold Fast To Your Dreams

I have a dream today.

I have a dream that one day every vally shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.

Wow, what a dream it has been for Martin Luther King. But the changing world seems telling me that people gradually get their dreams lost somehow in the proce of growing up, and sometimes I personally find myself saying goodbye unconsciously to those distant childhood dreams.

However, we meed dreams. They nourish our spirit; they represent poibility even when we are dragged down by reality.

They keep us going. Most succeful people are dreamers as well as ordinary people who are not afraid to think big and dare to be great. When we were little kids, we all dreamed of doing something big and splashy, something significant. Now what we need to do is to maintain them, refresh them and turn them into reality. However, the toughest part is that we often have no ideas how to translate these dreams into actions.Well, just start with concrete objectives and stick to it.Don’t let the namele fear confuse the eye and confound our strong belief of future.Through our talents, through our wits, through our endurance and through our creativity, we will make it.

Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly.Hold fast to dreams, for when dreams go, life is a barren field frozen with snow.So my dear friends, think of your old and maybe dead dreams.Whatever it is, pick it up and make it alive from today.

Nowadays, More and more parents like to design the future for their children. On the one hand, they hope that their children study hard in order to be admitted to an ideal college or a key university. On the other hand, some parents want them to attend all kinds of other claes, even ignore the children’s interests. It is for these reasons that parents are strict with their children. However, they don’t realize what great preure they have put on their children. As a result, the children almost have

no time to play and feel unhappy.I think parents should provide a proper environment for their children and give them space to dream .Only in this way can children have a happy and enjoyable life.Only in this way, will they try their best and succeed at last.w* KuangFu Panda is an interesting movie.First, Po is a big panda,he is very fat,but he has his own dream.Po want\'s to be a Great master,to save people in bad life by kuangfu. The Shifu teachs him how to fight, and make him to save the world. At last,He beat Tai Lung.Po had many friends, Monkey,Master Viper,Master Tigre,Master Mantis,Master Crane......I thought he is a great panda. He is a hero!I want to be the 2nd Po,to be a hero!
