Good afternoon, all appraiser committee members.I am denglu and my supervisor is aociate profeor zhangjinghua.With his sincere and intellectual guidance, I have finished my paper.Now, I will present my efforts to you and welcome any correction.

The title of my paper is On the Adaptation of C-E Tourism Texts Translation.I choose this as my topic due to the following reasons.China is a great country with 5000 years of history.Its magnificent culture and historical sites attract millions of foreign tourists to pay a visit each year.Especially after 2008 Olympic Games and Shang Hai World Exposition, tourism in China is booming.However, the development of translation on tourist publicity is relatively low.Linguistic, cultural and pragmatic mistakes in the tourist texts hamper the cro-cultural communication and damage the image of the destination.So tourism texts translation plays an important role in cro-cultural communication.For the above facts, I select the subject of “On the Adaptation of C-E Tourism Texts Translation” as the title of my paper.The topic is chosen hoping to draw an attention of Chinese translators to the urgent iue of tourism texts translation.It is hoped that this study can provide a frame work of reference for the tourism text translation.Next, it is an outline of my paper.I divide it into three parts.

Part one analyzes the difficulties in translating tourism texts, especially puts emphases on the differences in Chinese and English tourism texts from the aspects of ways of expreion and writing conventions.

Part two is the theoretical foundation of the whole thesis.This chapter explains the major contents of adaptation theory.The three properties of language and the four angles of pragmatic investigation are employed to explain many translational phenomena and promote understanding of the current principles and strategies in translation practice.

Part three the thesis investigates the objects of adaptation in the translation of tourism texts from three perspectives: the linguistic reality, the target audience’s mental world and the target audience’s social world.A succeful translation of tourism texts, to a great extent, depends on the adaptability and creativity of the translator.
