Cherish the life Good morning, judges, teachers and fellow students，I’m very glad to be here.Today my topic is “Cherish the life”.
Before I start my speech，I have a question for you.What is the most important in the world? My answer is：life.There are many different kinds of lives on earth like trees, flowers，birds，fish，including us human beings.Thanks to these forms of life, the world can be colorful and attractive.However, life is facing increasing threats of climate change and environmental degradation.Forests are being cut down, some animals are endangered.Air and water are not clear any more.Life is facing an unprecedented challenge.What contributed to the situation？It is we human beings who caused that.As human activities are the major source of greenhouse gas emiions，changing human behavior is the key to dealing with climate change.So, the answer is obvious , to live a low carbon life.
First of all ,low carbon life is not a fashion or slogan(标语，口号).It is carried out in our daily lives.If every student who is driven to school can take buses or ride bicycles to school once a week,if every car owner goes to work in a car pool once a week, we can make a difference.Second ,low carbon life should be developed into a habit.If shoppers can take environmentally friendly bags rather than use plastic ones when shopping, if people refuse to use disposable（一次性的） cups and chopsticks, if students can save paper by writing on both sides of paper before throwing it away, if everyone turns off lights and computers when they leave their homes or offices, if all these dreams can come true, the earth mother will be not suffering, she will become healthier and greener and more beautiful.
Streams can combine into a vast ocean, small trees can make up immense forest .Everybody can contribute to the protection of the environment by making some little changes in our daily life.Now, I’m calling on you to rethink your lifestyles and make responsible choices to protect our planet.The earth is our home and taking care of it is to take care of ourselves and our future generation and all the other lives as well.Life is the most precious in this world.So let us unite to live a low-carbon life and protect our environment.Thank you very much.
