The Reason of Haze in Beijing

Nowadays the hazy weather in Beijing is becoming increasingly severe such that everyone seems to mi the blue sky before which appears only five in ten days now.It’s time for us to pay attention to the

problem,figuring out the real causes behind it.

First of all, the natural surrounding of Beijing makes great contribution to hazy weather.Located on North China Plain,Beijing is surrounded by mountains on three sides,and far away from the ocean.Such topography gives rise to the pollutants’ accumulating.I’m from a coastal city --YanTai ,Shandon Province.Sometimes

Hazy weather can occur in Yantai City,but wind from the ocean always blow away the smog in time,which keep air clean.It can be seen that topography plays an important role in appearance of hazy weather.Also,Temperate monsoon climate gives rise to the coldne and weak light of Beijing in the winter.On one hand,the PM 2.5 move slower when under weak light than the strong light in summer.On the other hand,coldne make the water vapour condense.The air humidity is heavy,which

obstructs from the smog diffusion so that the smog accumulated quickly in a certain region.Not only the topography but also the weather gave rise to hazy Beijing.

And the dramatic economic development in Beijing these years has damaged its ecological balance

unavoidably.All kinds of factories with numerous cars have invaded and occupied our capital.Maive waste gas released from modern factories and cars provide enough particles for the haze in .According to a

survey ,Beijing has about 5354 thousand vehicles by the July of 2013,which caused 22.2 percent emiion of PM2.5 in Beijing.Besides,the total number of cars is likely to reach 7000 thousand by 2017,according to the Traffic Committee of Beijing.Given the large amount of cars and factories,we can imagine how is the air quality of Beijing.At the same time,the pursuit to economic development lead to the unreasonable deforestation.As we know,trees take in PM2.5.Not taken in by trees,the large amount of particles left in the air would change into the so-called “haze”.With more and more particles produced by modern society,fewer and fewer particles

taken in by trees,hazy weather become more and more common.

So,what should we do?As Beijing undertakes great economic growth,environmental awarene also should be paid attention to.Only by attaching importance to both economy and environment can we have a blue sky and a beautiful Beijing again.
