Dear HKMUN:

I write this letter to apply for the opportunity to attend HKMUNC 2012 Committee.

First, please kindly allow me to introduce myself.I am a freshman in Law School.Having been the Chairman of Student Union in my Senior School, I gained a deeper understanding of leadership.I acquired lots of practical skills to cope with the different requirements and unit each department toward the achievement of goals.Fortunately studying in UIBE, I have acce to numerous chances to practice my English skills through frequent presentations and weekly English Corner with foreigners

I want to apply for the Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee (SOCHUM) for the following reasons.SOCHUM mainly concerns on the international or national conflict that has a “social aspect”, such as the agenda items relating to a range of social, humanitarian affairs and human rights iues.I am expecting to gain insight into the basic status of human survival condition through my research on vulnerable groups。 As it is known, all human development and human rights iues have gender dimensions, especially in the Third World Countries.Therefore, the world is obliged to focus on priority areas that are fundamental to women’s equality, and unlock progre acro the board.

To ameliorate this situation, women in the Third World Countries need strong laws, backed by implementation and services for protection and prevention.Since women always suffer the most in war, women must be at the centre of peace talks and post-conflict reconstruction.Meanwhile, the multiple barriers that prevent women from seizing economic

opportunities must be dropped.Of course, these changes can not be accomplished single-handedly by the Third World Country.It requires world-wide attention, especially the aistance from developed countries.

In addition, children also bear the burnt of modern conflicts.Child

imprisonment basically emerges out as a form of child abuse.As children are not reasonably mature and have not set up the rational view of the world, when facing the different temptation, children often fall into the mire of crime and have to face the legal trial.To protect our children, the world should have pledged to work for the legislation on the arrest, detention or imprisonment of a child.

Besides, I want to apply for the delegation of Israel, simply because it will certainly become a challenge.In a long period of time, the women in Israel lived in a disadvantaged position in economical, political and

cultural aspects, lacking the right to speak.Although improvement in the legislation has been promulgate by Israel, additional measures should be implemented.How to protect women’s rights under the premise of respect for Muslim tradition, as well as win the understanding and

support of other countries and international organizations, are the two biggest problems for Israel.Israel ought to reach a consensus on the iue with other Arab countries or Muslim countries at the conference.I would be appreciating if I have the admiion to attend HKMUNC 2012 Committee.It will undoubtedly become a rewarding experience of a lifetime.
