（原因）I choose this as my topic due to the following three reasons.Firstly, I like literature from my childhood.One of my reason to choose English as my major in the university is that I want to learn about the world literature.Secondly, our American literature teacher, MRS.Xue influenced me a lot, her vivid description on Stephen Crane\'s short story, the open boat, impreed me and led me addicted in Crane\'s way of writing.Thirdly, color image is a newly element in literature, I want to learn more about it.For the above facts, I select the subject of Color Images Representing Impreionist Elements in The Red Badge of Courage as the title of my paper.

(意义）I hope by studying this topic，firstly, we can learn about the concept of Impreionism and know how it is expreed in The Red Badge of Courage.So as to have a better understanding about this novel as well as other works of Crane.Secondly, we could gain a brief impreion about War, especially the civil war, to feel the feelings of the soldiers in battles.Thirdly, through the experience of color images employment in the literary work, we could develop the creative thinking.

(提纲）Next is an outline of my paper.In the main part of this paper, I divide it into five parts.

part one presents an introduction to Stephen Crane and The Red Badge of Courage.And to show the significance

Part two discues the Literature Review of this novel, including the international study and domestic study.

Part three demonstrates The Concept of Impreionism and the reasons of adopting Impreionism.

Part four presents the employment of color images, at first to Analysis the Impreionistic Elements in the Title, and then Analysis Different Color Images,at last, the Typical Sentences with Color Images.

Part five draws a conclusion that The Red Badge of Courage is the first outstanding impreionistic novel in American literature.Crane Seizes colors-the people\'s most sensitive element in their vision, and put them into his literary creation.Crane shows the reader not only what his portrayed scenes and the colorful pictures of people and their feelings, but also provides to the reader abundant imaginative contents.The novel becomes an interesting album which helps the reader to gain a better understanding of it as well as the author.Otherwise, it helps the reader to imagine, think and feel.
